With the announcement that Leeds Rhinos Women's team will play their first ever Super League game at Emerald Headingley Stadium on 27th May, Leeds Rhinos and England Captain Lois Forsell said she is eager to build on the momentum of new interest in the game across the city.
The unbeaten Rhinos will third placed Castleford Tigers in the Headingley fixture, which for the Super League winner is a dream come true:

"We are really excited to kick off our home campaign at Emerald Headingley. Having grown up supporting the Rhinos it will be a dream come true to play a Super League game there and be part of history as the famous stadium hosts its first ever Women's Super League game," said Forsell.

With a palpable rise in interest in the game since the start of the competition in April, Leeds Rhinos Foundation have been out in the Leeds community continuing to tap into the next generation of young talent with free rugby taster sessions and development nights at local clubs over the past month.

With 15 new players turning out for Leeds Rhinos Foundation's recent sessions with Farnley Falcons Under 12s and more sessions to follow, the rising interest in the women's game is further vindication of the importance of having pathway to the elite level according to Forsell:

"The creation of the Leeds Rhinos Women's team and Academy has really helped generate interest in the sport and now players can see a pathway to representing their city at the highest level. It is a really exciting time to be involved in women's Rugby League and I hope Rhinos fans come down to Emerald Headingley to give our team their support."
