Changing Lives Through Sport

Job Role: Overseeing our Rugby League Development Plan sponsored by MEARS and all the projects within it. It's a really exciting time for the sport in Leeds and as a Foundation we are putting more resource than ever before into schools coaching and have an exciting new program aimed at Key Stage 1 to inspire a new generation of Rugby League players.

The other side to my role is supporting the amateur clubs who can then provide the school children a long term environment for them to continue in the sport. We also run projects so that everyone can take part in rugby league, touch rugby, masters, women and girls and wheelchair rugby league!

In the last few years we have also developed a partnership with ESF events to run the biggest junior Rugby League festival in the world each year at Butlins Skegness called Rhinos Challenge.

Biggest Achievement: Quest 14 cycling challenge. Quest 14 was a charity bike ride, cycled over 1000 miles in 8 days. Overall the hardest thing I have ever done mentally and physically.

Role Model: I don't have one, I paddle my own canoe.

Best Sporting Moment: As a supporter, Batley Bulldogs winning the Northern Rail cup in Blackpool in 2010, a tremendous effort and brilliant atmosphere behind the sticks with the Batley fans.
